Discover the idyllic charm of Door County, Wisconsin, where stunning shores and quaint villages create the perfect backdrop for your honeymoon. From breathtaking hikes to romantic sunset dinners, this itinerary is designed to make your getaway unforgettable.
Day 1 - Arrive and Explore Ephraim
- Morning: Arrive in Ephraim and check into your accommodation (we recommend Harbor House & Guest Cottage on VRBO, the hosts were wonderful and the home is charming!)
- Afternoon: Explore Ephraim’s beautiful downtown. Visit local shops and enjoy the waterfront. Special recommendations: The Confectionary for a sweet treat, Wilson’s restaurant for lunch, Ephraim Clayworks
- Evening: Have dinner at The Old Post Office for a cozy and traditional start to your trip (try to do this on a Friday for a traditional Northwoods fish fry!).
- Head to Red Putter Mini Golf to finish out the night!
Day 2 - Hiking and Scenic Views
- Morning: Head to Peninsula State Park and hike the Echo Rock Trail for spectacular views of the park and Green Bay.
- Afternoon: Visit Nicolet Bay Beach for lunch and cool off with a swim! Then hike Eagle Trail for fantastic views, incredible natural caves, and be sure to stop at Eagle Panorama and our personal favorite, Eagle Tower, along the way for some truly amazing scenery.
- Evening: Enjoy dinner at Wild Tomato in Sister Bay, for some local flavors.
Day 3 - Cherry Picking at Seaquist Orchards
- Morning: Drive to Seaquist Orchards for cherry picking. Enjoy the day picking some fresh cherries and exploring the orchard. Be sure to go inside the farm market store for a selection of fresh or frozen pies, jams, donuts, and other goodies.
- Afternoon: Return to Ephraim and have lunch or a light snack with some of your freshly picked cherries.
- Evening: Dine at Chef’s Hat in Ephraim for a delightful waterfront dinner.
Day 4 - Parasailing in Sister Bay
- Morning: Head to Sister Bay for an exhilarating parasailing adventure with Door County Adventure Center.
- Afternoon: Have lunch at Al Johnson’s Restaurant in Sister Bay, known for its Swedish cuisine and iconic goats on the roof. Be sure to make reservations in advance, as it is quite a popular spot! Afterwards, explore the local shops, take a dip in the bay at Sister Bay Beach, or enjoy an afternoon fishing off the piers in town!
- Evening: Have a relaxed dinner at Sister Bay Bowl and maybe even get a few games in at this old-fashioned bowling alley.
Day 5 - Sunset Bike Trail
- Morning: Grab a coffee from Fika bakery (and a sweet treat!). This is one of our favorite places on the peninsula. The baked goods are incredible!!
- Afternoon: Afterwards, rent bikes from Edge of Park Rentals or Nor Door Cyclery in Fish Creek and ride the Sunset Bike Trail in Peninsula State Park, taking in the scenic beauty along the way. It’s about a 9 mile loop through the park, definitely a highlight!
- Evening: Enjoy a hard-earned dinner at Julie’s Cafe.
Day 6 - Explore More Trails and Local Attractions
- Morning: Visit the Cana Island Lighthouse, a beautiful spot for sunrise! Afterwards, explore the nearby town of Baileys Harbor.
- Afternoon: Visit Fish Creek and explore local shops and galleries. Our favorites: Dippy’s Ice Cream, O’Meara’s Irish House, Bayside Coffee, Hide Side Corner Store
- Evening: Enjoy a memorable dinner at The English Inn in Fish Creek, offering a charming atmosphere and excellent cuisine.
Day 7: Leisure and Departure
- Morning: Have a leisurely breakfast (try Good Eggs in Ephraim for a yummy breakfast burrito) and spend some final moments exploring Ephraim or relaxing by the waterfront. Check out Anderson Dock and Museum for some local history. Or, rent kayaks for a paddle around Eagle Harbor!
- Afternoon: Enjoy a farewell lunch at Wilson’s in Ephraim or another spot you’ve enjoyed.
- Evening: Begin your journey home with wonderful memories of your Door County honeymoon.
Helpful Tips:
- Pack for all kinds of weather! You might be warm in a tank top during the day, then need a sweatshirt or jacket when the sun goes down.
- If you are there on a Sunday, check out Fish Creek Community Church for a great Christian service and to meet some wonderful people!
